Chicago Transit Authority Photos

Welcome to the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) photo gallery. The CTA began operations in 1947 after acquiring the Chicago Rapid Transit Company and the Chicago Surface Lines. It operates numerous rail lines and surface bus routes in Chicago and surrounding suburbs.

Below is a sample of what the CTA operates, but by no means complete in covering the CTA throughout it's history.

1991 TMC T80-208 "RTS" 4412 4412 shown at a bus stop. These buses were rebuilt in 2002, air conditioning was installed in them. The buses use to have rear windows, but air conditioning was installed in place of the window. As a result they looked more like a typical RTS. LED lights were also added at some point. These additions apply to the entire active fleet of 102 inch wide TMC RTS's of CTA's, the original order size was for 476 buses. 1/01/2005
