Hong Kong Volvo Super Olympians (B10TL)

The Volvo Super Olympian was introduced to Hong Kong in the summer of 1999 when Kowloon Motor Bus and New World First Bus both took delivery of their first Super Olympians. The Super Olympian is a low floor version of the Olympian. From 1999 to 2002, Kowloon Motor Bus took delivery of 492 12 metre Volvo Super Olympians and New World First Bus took delivery of 103. Most of these buses had modified Walter Alexander ALX500 bodies. The front ends are identical to the Alexander bodied Tridents except for different logos but the rear ends are drastically modified. A handfull of buses (21) in the 3ASV400 series from Kowloon Motor Bus have Volgren bodies. From 2001 to 2004, Kowloon Motor Bus took delivery of 100 Walter Alexander bodied Volvo Super Olympians that were of 10.6 metres in length. From 2003 to 2005 Kowloon Motor Bus took delivery of 101 Wright Explorer bodied Volvo Super Olympians that were 12 metres of length. By the end of 2004, nearly 800 Volvo Super Olympians are expected to be in service. All Super Olympians are air conditioned and powered by Volvo D10A engines with ZF transmissions.
