Welcome to the gallery for the CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) test buses from Nova Bus. In the Spring of 2013, Calgary Transit took delivery of two LFS CNG buses from Nova Bus.
The two Nova Bus LFS CNG buses went into revenue service in July of 2013 on Route 72 and 73. These two buses are powered by Cummins ISL G engines with ZF 6AP1200B Ecolife transmissions.These buses are numbered #8203 and #8204. The two buses were built in 2013 and were the very first Nova LFS CNG buses ever built.
In late 2018 and early 2019 Calgary Transit took delivery of 40 more Nova Bus LFS CNG fueled buses. These buses featured some firsts for Calgary Transit. They were the first buses to come with Luminator Spectrum destination signs capable of multi color displays. As well a move away from frabric on passenger seats, featuring the American Seating InSight Prime plastic countoured seats. The powertrain is a Cummins Westport L9N with ZF 6AP1400B transmission. The destination signs are Luminator Spectrum series. The first seven buses in the order were mistakingly assembled with exterior frameless windows. These buses are numbered #8355-8394.
In late 2019 and early 2020 Calgary Transit took delivery of 70 more Nova Bus LFS CNG fueled buses. These buses featured the same specifications as the 2018-19 order previous. All 70 of these buses feature exterior frameless windows. These buses are numbered #8395-8464.
In the first half of 2022, Calgary Transit took delivery of 25 more Nova Bus LFS CNG fueled buses. These buses are very similar to the previous order with the exception of not having the frameless exterior windows. These buses numbered on #8465-8489.
Near the end of 2022 an in early 2023, Calgary Transit took delivery of 32 more Nova Bus LFS CNG fueled buses.These buses numbered on #8490-8521 and are identical to the earlier 2022 order.
From spring 2024 to early 2025, Calgary Transit took delivery of 75 more Nova Bus LFS CNG fueled buses. These buses shared the same specifications as the 2022-2023 order and numbered #8522-8596.
Starting in November 2025 to Spring 2026, Calgary Transit took delivery of 60 more Nova Bus LFS CNG fueled buses. These buses shared the same specifications as the 2024 order and numbered #8597-8656. The destination sign on these buses use the model Hanover Chroma, moving away from the previous Luminator Spectrum signs that all previous Nova Bus LFS CNG were delivered with.
