Edmonton Transit System Siemens-Duwag U2

Welcome to the LRT photo gallary. Edmonton Transit's LRT system opened on April 22nd, 1978 with the original line being 7.2km long with 5 Stations spaning from Central to Belvedere. The current line is now 21km long and has 15 Stations (Clareview to Century Park). The system has 37 Siemens Duwag U2-DC cars (#1001-#1037), all were built from 1977 to 1983. In 2008-2010 37 Siemens SD160 cars are being delivered (#1038-1074). In 1988, ETS got two U2-AC cars as demonstrators (3001-3002), these cars were sold to Calgary in 1990 (now CT #2101/2102). The original 37 cars have all gone through a refurbishing program, with various upgrades and a new coat of paint.
