Edmonton Transit System 2007-2008 New Flyer D40LFR

Welcome to the New Flyer D40LFR photo gallary. In the fall of 2006 the city council of Edmonton approved a fast track replacement of the bulk of 200 plus GM New Look buses on the road at the time. This plan involved the purchase of 231 New D40LFR buses from New Flyer Industries. In the spring of 2007, the first units began to arrive with delivery Completed in February of 2008. This massive order makes Edmonton the largest operator of a D40LFR fleet in North America at the moment. The buses are powered by Cummins ISL engines and Allison B400R5 transmissions. They are equipped with Luminator Horizon LED destination signs. The interior seating layout is identical to the New Flyer D40LF's operated by ETS. However, blue frabric has replaced the older purple patterned seating on most of these buses. The first handful still came with the older pattern frabric.
