Hong Kong Dennis Dragons KMB 3N & S3N1-S3N270

The Dennis Dragon and Condor were both introduced to Hong Kong in 1982 with 3 12 metre Dragons going to Kowloon Motor Bus and 2 12 metre Condors to China Motor Bus. Since then to 1998, follow up orders by Kowloon Motor Bus, Citybus and China Motor Bus (now New World First Bus) have totalled about 1550 Dragons and about 170 Condors. All Condors were ordered by China Motor Bus and newer ones still remain with New World First Bus. The body on almost all Dragons and Condors is made by Duple Metsec. Citybus uses Duple Metsec bodies with Alexander Type R front panels on their Dragons. The early 90's was when the transistion between non air conditioned buses and air conditioned buses took place. The first air conditioned was introduced in 1990 and the last non-airconditioned bus was built in 1994. Engines for Condors and Dragons were generally Gardener Six cylinder engines throughout the 80's. Into the 90's Cummins LT10 and LTA10 engines became popular. Twoards the end of production, the Cummins M11 was often used. Various Voith and ZF transmissions have been used in these buses. These buses came in lengths of 12m, 11m, 10.4m and 9.9m.
