Welcome to the Red Deer Transit New Flyer D40LF photo gallery. Red Deer Transit operated 16 New Flyer D40LF's. These buses provided low floor service on various routes on the system. These buses are equipped with a wheelchair ramp, two wheelchair positions and can kneel. The first 12 buses have had their original roller signs refitted with Balios LED destination signs. The 2005 order of 4 buses came with LED destination signs, possibly from Pocatec/Axion. The 1994 order consisted of 2 buses, #337 and #338; these are powered by Detroit Diesel 6V92TA engine with Allison B400R5 transmission (originally ZF 4HP500). The 1996 order consisted of 2 buses #371 and #372; these are powered by Detroit Diesel Series 50 engine with Allison B400R5 transmission. The 1998/1999 orders consisted of 8 buses #390-#392 and #416-#420; these are powered by Detroit Diesel Series 50 engine with Allison B400R5 transmission. The 2005 order consisted of 4 buses #656-#659; these are powered by Cummins ISL engines with Allison B400R5 transmissions. These buses were retired gradually between 2011 and 2019. Some were sold to other private operations in various parts of the province.
