BC Transit Loaned Buses

Welcome to the loaned vehicle gallery. At the end of January 2007, Translink had 39 brand new New Flyer E40LFR trolleybuses in service; however, due to a power steering failure issue all coaches were pulled off the road, only to return in late March of the same year. During this time, 4 Orion buses were borrowed from two BC Transit divisions. 2 Orion 05.501 (#8606 and #8608) were borrowed from Central Fraser Valley Transit System (Abbotsford) and 2 Orion 01.507 (#6715 and #6784) from the Chilliwack Transit System. The two Orion I's were sent back in late February, soon followed by 8608 and then lastly 8606 near the end of March. These buses ran out of Vancouver Transit Centre (VTC) during their stay, numerous shuffling of buses from depot to depot also occured during the time that the new trolleybus fleet was parked. The 4 buses on loan ran on designated morning and afternoon tripper runs. The buses also operated without fareboxes and used windsheild cards to display the route. #8606 was the last of the four to remain, its last day of service was Friday March 23rd, 2007 operating on the Route 41 in the afternoon peak period.
