Welcome to the New Flyer D40LF/D40LFR photo gallery. Translink (under former BC Transit) first ordered D40LF's in 1995.
These buses are low floor (up to 2nd door) and feature two wheelchair spaces, a wheelchair ramp, kneeling capability and bike racks. CMBC (Translink) currently operates 340 D40LF's. 7101-7150 (1995), 7151-7243 (1996), 7247-7297 (1998), 7299/7301-7374 (1999) are powered by the Detroit Diesel Series 50 Engine and an Allison B400R5 transmission. 7375-7429 (2000) and 7430-7446 (2001) are powered by a Cummins ISC engine with an Allison B400R5 transmission. Luminator signs are used on all D40LF's except 7301-7399 and 7401-7446 which use the Balios LED signs. By 2010, all the buses were in the CMBC "Sweep" livery and many refurbished. Some of the Cummins ISC units have also had their engines refurbished to Cummins ISL specifications.
In 2006, Translink/CMBC took delivery of 57 D40LFR's numbered 7447-7503. They are powered by the Cummins ISL engine and a 6 speed Allison B400R6 transmission. The buses also feature Luminator LED destination signs and a new style of seats, first introduced in 2005 on E40LF prototype #2101.
