Toronto Transit Commission UTDC/SIG-Hawker Siddeley Canada Streetcars

Six prototype Canadian Light Rail Vehicles (CLRV) were built by Urban Transportation Development Corporation (UTDC)/Schweizerische Industrie Gesellschaft (SIG) and delivered to the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) in 1977-1978. These cars became known as the L1 CLRV's (#4000-4005). An order of 190 to replace the PCC Streetcars entered service from 1978-1981, these cars were built by UTDC/Hawker Siddeley Canada known as the L2 CRLV's (#4010-4199). In 1983, an articulated version of these CLRV's was built, with the number 4900, it served the TTC as a demo from 1983-1987. A production order of the articulated cars, known as class L3 ALRV's (#4200-4251) was built by UTDC/Haker Siddeley Canada from 1987-1989. For more roster infromation please click here.
